Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Nyingchi
Upon arrival at Nyingchi Mainling Airport, Our driver will await you at airport to pick you up and then transfer to the hotel. This gateway city, often called “the Swiss Alps of Tibet,” sits at approximately 2,800 meters. The remainder of the day is dedicated to gentle acclimatization and leisure. Light walking along the Nyang River is recommended to adjust to the altitude.

Day 2 Nyingchi to Lulang via Segrila Pass & Lulang Forest
The journey begins with a drive to Segrila Pass (4,720 m), offering panoramic views of Namjagbarwa Peak. After a short stop, descend into the Lulang Forest, a natural reserve known for its dense spruce and pine stands. We may take a gentle forest walk to experience the pristine alpine air. Overnight stay in Lulang Town.

Day 3 Lulang to Bomi via Alpine Pasture & Zhaxigang Peach Blossom Valley
Morning visit to the Alpine Pasture, a highland meadow dotted with yaks and seasonal wildflowers. The route then continues to Zhaxigang Peach Blossom Valley, famous for ancient wild peach trees blooming in spring. In other seasons, guests can enjoy picturesque rural landscapes. Arrive in Bomi (2,750 m) by late afternoon, known for its glacier-fed rivers and verdant valleys. Overnight in Bomi.

Day 4 Bomi to Rawok Lake & Midui Glacier
Depart Bomi toward Rawok Lake (3,850 m), a serene glacial lake reflecting surrounding snow peaks. A short walk leads to Midui Glacier, one of Tibet’s most accessible glaciers, with striking blue ice formations. We may opt for a yak ride or gentle trek along the glacier’s terminal moraine. Afternoon free for photography and quiet contemplation.

Day 5 Bomi to Lulang via Gang Spruce Forest
Today’s drive passes through Gang Town, home to the Gang National Spruce Forest, one of China’s largest and best-preserved spruce reserves. A walking trail allows us to immerse in the towering trees, some over 400 years old. The cool, oxygen-rich environment aids altitude adjustment. After lunch, proceed back to Lulang, arriving in the late afternoon for a relaxing evening. Overnight in Lulang.

Day 6 Lulang to Basum Tso (Lake Basomtso)
After breakfast, travel toward Basum Tso (3,480 m), a heart-shaped alpine lake surrounded by forested mountains and sacred sites. Upon arrival, we will board a sightseeing boat or follow the lakeside boardwalk to Tsodzong Island, which houses a small 1,000-year-old temple. The turquoise waters and dramatic peaks offer excellent photography opportunities.

Day 7 Basum Tso to Lhasa
Morning at leisure for additional lakeside walks or meditation before departing for Lhasa. The scenic drive follows the Nyang River and passes through the Milda Mountain range. Arrive in Lhasa (3,650 m) by mid-afternoon. The remainder of the day is for rest and gradual acclimatization.

Day 8 Lhasa: Potala Palace & Jokhang Temple
The day begins with a guided tour of the Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas, featuring thousands of rooms, chapels, and sacred relics. After lunch, visit the Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s most revered shrine, housing the life-size statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at age twelve. We will then walk the Barkhor Street pilgrimage circuit, observing local devotees and traditional artisans.

Day 9 Lhasa: Drepung & Sera Monasteries + Cultural Experience
Morning exploration of Drepung Monastery, once the world’s largest monastic university, with its labyrinthine halls and debating courtyards. Afternoon visit to Sera Monastery, renowned for the daily monks’ debate sessions (3–5 PM). A cultural experience follows: guests may participate in butter sculpture observation or thangka painting demonstration. This day offers deep insight into Tibetan Buddhist scholarship and artistic heritage.

Day 10 Lhasa to Shigatse via Yamdrok Lake & Karola Glacier
Depart Lhasa southward over the Gampala Pass (4,790 m) for a stunning view of Yamdrok Lake, a turquoise, swan-shaped holy lake framed by snow-capped peaks. A brief stop at the lakeshore precedes the drive to Karola Glacier, which descends dramatically to the roadside. Proceed to Shigatse (3,840 m), Tibet’s second-largest city, for overnight. Total driving time approximately 6–7 hours with sightseeing pauses.

Day 11 Shigatse to Everest Base Camp via Rongbuk Monastery
Early morning departure along the Friendship Highway, passing through Tingri with views of the Himalayan range. After reaching Everest Base Camp (5,150 m),we will then stand face-to-face with Mount Everest’s north face. A short visit to Rongbuk Monastery, the world’s highest monastery, which provides a spiritual contrast to the rugged landscape. Prepare for cold and thin air, we will overnight at Mount Everest Base Camp tent.

Day 12 Everest Base Camp return to Shigatse
If weather permitting, we may witness sunrise over Everest before breakfast. Morning descent retracing the route back to Shigatse, with stops for scenery and comfort breaks. Upon arrival in Shigatse, the afternoon is free for rest or optional visit to the local market. This day allows for recovery from high-altitude exposure while enjoying the vast Tibetan plateau landscapes. Overnight in Shigatse.

Day 13 Shigatse to Lhasa via Tashilhunpo Monastery
Before departing Shigatse, we will visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, featuring a 26-meter-high Maitreya Buddha statue and elaborate chapels. The return drive to Lhasa follows the Yarlung Tsangpo River valley, with scenic stops at the Nyemo Che tradition site. Arrive in Lhasa by late afternoon. The evening is free for independent exploration or souvenir shopping. Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 14 Lhasa to Namtso Lake round trip
Early morning departure northward across the Laken La Pass (5,190 m) to Namtso Lake (4,718 m), one of Tibet’s three holy lakes. Guests walk along the Tashi Peninsula to view the dramatic rock formations, prayer flags, and crystal-clear waters against the Nyenchen Tanglha mountain range. After a lakeside picnic lunch, return to Lhasa in the late afternoon. Note: this is a full-day journey (approx. 10 hours). Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 15 Lhasa to Xining by train
Morning transfer to Lhasa Railway Station for the Qinghai–Tibet Railway journey to Xining (approximately 21 hours). Guests will be accommodated in soft-sleeper compartments with oxygen supply. The train traverses the Tanggula Pass (5,072 m), the world’s highest railway point, offering panoramic views of grasslands, nomadic settlements, and distant glaciers. This rail segment provides a gradual descent in altitude and a memorable conclusion to the Tibet tour. Arrival in Xining on the following day where this tour concludes.
