1-Day Tour for Panda Volunteer in Dujiangyan/Ya'an/Wolong

OVERVIEW
Get the special opportunity to volunteer at one of China's top panda rehabilitation programs, Dujianyan/Wolong/Ya'an Panda Base, on this full-day experience from Chengdu. Under the supervision of the staff in panda base, make panda cake, prepare fresh bamboo for panda, and more. Buffet lunch and round-trip transportation from your Chengdu hotel are included.

🐼 Dujiangyan Panda Base is one of the few bases offer panda volunteer program and the first research base for the rescue and disease control of panda in China. There are about 50 Panda in the base. The full day program include panda food making, bamboo cracking, and features of documentary video of releasing panda to the wildness. Dujiangyan Panda Base is dedicated to the study of disease control and rescue of wild pandas where you will contribute to the conservation of endangered panda bears!

Tour the Panda Base, see the giant pandas, red pandas and moon bears and explore their environment. Over 20 giant pandas, from babies to adults (around 1-15 years old) to see.

🐼 Wolong national Nature Reserve is the earliest, largest, and best-know panda reserve in the world. It was hit by the catastrophic Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008. After years of road construction, travellers can visit Wolong Panda Base now.

The place has more than 100 pandas, accounting 10% of the total number in the country. Besides, there are other rare animals and plants as well as rich water resources. 

🐼 Bifengxia Panda Base, it was built in 2003 and opened in 2004, which makes the best vegetation with clean air and water. Surrounded by the tall and frondent trees, the pandas prefer sitting and sleeping on the branches.

There is a panda kindergarten in the base, where you can see the baby pandas playing around. Bei Bei and Xiang Xiang, who’s born in Washington DC and Japan both live here. Besides the panda base, there are other attractions which are very close: Bifengxia Canyon and Wildlife Park.

*Starting from April 25, 2024, panda volunteers will not be allowed to enter the panda enclosure, and the arrangement of clean the panda enclosures & collect panda poop will be canceled.

09:00 Change into volunteer outfit
09:30 Washing bamboo shoots/Cracking Bamboo/Visiting the museum (or the panda base)
10:00-10:10 Preparing bamboo for panda, and watch the keeper to feed panda
10:10-11:30 Visiting the pandas
11:30-12:30 Lunch hour for volunteers
13:00-13:30 Making panda snacks
13:30-14:30 Viewing panda documentary
14:30-14:40 Return volunteer outfit
16:30 Arrival in Chengdu hotel where this tour is concluded
*The itinerary and timing may be subject to temporary adjustments and changes based on the health and working conditions of the giant pandas.
*Only Ya'an Panda Base is NOT available to watch keeper feeding panda.

Notes for Panda Volunteering: 
1.No perfume, no cologne, no nail polish, be healthy (don’t get cold).
2.wear shoes (no slippers or Crocs).
3.Sunscreen and sunglasses will be useful.
4.Any activities missed due to being late will not be rescheduled, and guests will bear the consequences.

ADDITIONAL INFO.
1. Name, Passport number, Nationality, Date of Birth, Gender is required at time of booking for all participants.
2. The panda base is non-specified. We will select a base with a small number of people on the day.
3. This tour will have a maximum of 6 travelers.
4. No physical contact like touching or holding pandas.
5. Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking.
6. During Chinese public holidays or Winter and Summer holidays:
—We conduct the activity either at Wolong Panda Base or Ya'an Bifengxia Panda Base.
—Due to a high volume of visitors, confirmation may take up to one day after placing an order.
—The pick-up time will be earlier, in order to avoid traffic jams.
7. Infants must sit on laps.
8. Not wheelchair accessible.
9. A current valid passport is required on the day of travel.

NOTES
-Traveler pickup is offered.
-We pick up any hotels within the 3rd ring of Chengdu city.
-You will be collected an additional fee RMB 100 for the hotel located outside the 3rd ring road.
-You will be collected an additional fee RMB 200 for Shuangliu airport pickup or drop-off.
-You will be collected an additional fee RMB 300 for Tianfu airport pickup or drop-off.
