Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Nyingchi
Fly into Nyingchi, Tibet’s lowest-altitude gateway. Meet your guide and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy a relaxed evening to acclimate, surrounded by green valleys and fresh air – a gentle introduction to your Tibetan journey.
Day 2 Nyingchi to Lulang via Segrila Pass & Lulang Forest
Cross Segrila Mountain Pass for panoramic views of snow peaks and deep gorges. Descend into Lulang Forest, a Swiss‑like alpine meadow. Experience a Tibetan village: sip butter tea, make tsampa, ride horses, and try archery. Overnight in Lulang.
Day 3 Lulang to Bomi via Alpine Pasture, Zhaxigang & Peach Blossom Valley
Visit the lush Alpine Pasture, then Zhaxigang Village for rural Tibetan life. Drive to Bomi Peach Blossom Valley, in spring, wild peach trees burst into pink bloom. Continue to Bomi town for an overnight stay.
Day 4 Bomi to Rawok Lake & Midui Glacier
Explore Rawok Lake, a shimmering turquoise lake beneath snow‑capped peaks. Hike or take photos at Midui Glacier, one of Tibet’s most accessible glaciers. Return to Bomi for a second night, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.
Day 5 Bomi to Lulang via Gang Spruce Forest
Walk through Gang Spruce Forest, home to ancient towering spruces draped with moss. Enjoy the tranquil, oxygen‑rich environment. Afternoon drive back to Lulang, check into the hotel and relax in the forested highland.
Day 6 Lulang to Basum Tso (Lake Basomtso)
Travel to Basum Tso, a heart‑shaped turquoise lake set within dense forests and granite peaks. Take a short lakeside walk or optional boat ride.
Day 7 Basum Tso to Lhasa
Morning free at Basum Tso, hike to a small island temple or simply enjoy the peaceful water. After lunch, drive to Lhasa over high passes. Arrive in Tibet’s capital, check into the hotel, and prepare for the city’s cultural highlights.
Day 8 Lhasa: Potala Palace & Jokhang Temple
Visit the iconic Potala Palace, former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, hundreds of rooms filled with murals and relics. Afternoon at Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s spiritual heart. Stroll Barkhor Street, watching pilgrims and locals.
Day 9 Lhasa: Drepung & Sera Monasteries + Cultural Experience
Morning at Drepung Monastery, once the world’s largest. Afternoon at Sera Monastery, famous for monks’ debating sessions. Join a Tibetan instructor for hands‑on culture: making incense, block printing, and learning basic Tibetan phrases.
Day 10 Lhasa to Shigatse via Yamdrok Lake & Karola Glacier
Cross Gampa La Pass for the first view of Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, a long turquoise ribbon among snowy peaks. Stop at Karola Glacier, then drive to Shigatse, Tibet’s second‑largest city.
Day 11 Shigatse to Everest Base Camp via Rongbuk Monastery
Drive through barren highlands to Rongbuk Monastery, the world’s highest monastery. From here, see Everest’s north face. Continue to EBC for sunset on the summit. Stay overnight in a tent at Base Camp (shared facilities).
Day 12 Everest Base Camp return to Shigatse
Wake up early for sunrise over Mount Everest, the golden light is unforgettable. After breakfast, drive back to Shigatse. Rest in the afternoon or explore the local market and the fortress overlooking the city. Overnight in Shigatse.
Day 13 Shigatse to Lhasa via Tashilhunpo Monastery
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama, featuring a giant Maitreya Buddha statue and intricate chapels. After lunch, drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River. Arrive in Lhasa for the night.
Day 14 Lhasa to Namtso Lake round trip
Full‑day excursion to Namtso Lake, one of Tibet’s four great holy lakes. Cross 5,190m Laken La Pass for breathtaking views of turquoise water against snow‑capped Nyenchen Tanglha peaks. Walk the lakeshore, then return to Lhasa.
Day 15 Lhasa to Xining by train
Morning transfer to Lhasa railway station. Board the Qinghai‑Tibet train to Xining, a 20‑hour journey across vast grasslands, frozen lakes, and the Tanggula Pass. End of tour.
